Fernanda Carneiro was born in the southern town of Porto Alegre, Brazil and moved to the United States when she was only five years old. Nevertheless, recollections of Brazil and her vibrant native culture remain innate in her design aesthetic.Fernanda showed a penchant for design at a young age, cultivating her creativity under the watchful eye of her paternal grandmother, from whom she inherited her refined taste for clothing design and impeccable construction. Growing up in Miami and Los Angeles further exposedher to a wide variety of cultural and stylistic influences, translated in the designer’s inclination towards free-spirited designs and rich colorways.
After working in both production and design for major fashion labels including BCBG Max Azria, Fernanda launched her namesake label, Fernanda Carneiro, in 2008 with a capsule collection of vivid silk dresses and separates. Since its inception, the line has garnered attention from press including Lucky, Latino Future, and Daily Candy as well as celebrities including Julie Benz, Roselyn Sanchez, and Melonie Diaz.
In October 2009, Fernanda was awarded Los Angeles’ “Fashion Angel Emerging Designer Award,” honoring the city’s most promising talent in fashion design. Fernanda presented her Spring/Summer 2010 collection at Downtown Los Angeles Fashion Week, where she received rave reviews from press including WWD and The Los Angeles Times.
In February 2010, she was selected as one of nine finalists in the Oscars® Designer Challenge and showed a sleek and elegant gown design on the runway at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. As a finalist, she was featured on ABC, ET, Access Hollywood and numerous other national and international media outlets.
Most recently, Fernanda showcased her Fall 2010 collection at Gen Art’s final Fresh Faces runway show in Miami. She was mentioned on MTV’s “The City” as one of the designers showing at this event alongside Whitney Port.

Fernanda graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Marketing and went on to complete her education at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandisingin Los Angeles. Upon graduation she remained in Los Angeles. Shecurrently resides in Los Angeles, California with her husband.
